The Al Haramain Institute is designed to produce Qur’an recitors, memorisers and teachers of high caliber. Students will learn the rulings of Tajweed through the Qur’an and famous classical texts, whilst undergoing practical and theoretical assessments periodically.
Students who graduate from the Certified Teachers Programme will attain deep understanding of the science of Tajweed through classical texts and undertake teacher training to equip them to serve the Ummah.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a professional Qur'an Teaching Certificate authorised by Al Haramain; signed by the Imam of Madinah & Senior Muqri of Masjid An Nabawi.

The Al Haramain Institute for Adults specialist teachers course is designed to produce Qur’an reciters, memorisers and teachers of high Caliber. Students will learn the rulings of Tajweed through the Qur’an and the famous classical texts; Tuhfatul Atfaal and Al Jazariyyah. Every student will undergo practical and theoretical assessments periodically.
Students who graduate from the Certified Teachers Programme will attain deep understanding of the science of Tajweed through classical texts and undertake teacher training to equip them to serve the Ummah.
Year 1: Certification in Tuhfat Al Atfāl
A determined student who is able to read with ease is ready to join Year One and begin their path in becoming a teacher of the Qur'an.
Throughout this level, the student will cover concepts and rules of Tajweed through the classical text Al Tuhfat Al Atfāl; thus equipping the student with a strong foundation in Tajweed. Al Tuhfat Al Atfāl, which translates as ‘The Beginner’s Bequest’ was written by Imam Al Jamzūri for the novice student to not only study the rules of recitation but to learn them by heart through poetry.
In this level students will cover the following topics:
• The Introduction,
• The Rules of Nūn Al Sākinah and Al Tanwīn,
• The Rules of Mīm Al Sākinah,
• The Rules of Nūn and Mīm Mushadatain
• The Letter Lām in Nouns and Verbs.
• The Two Alike, The Two Similar and The Two Close By
• The Types of Al Madd
• The Rulings of Al Madd
• The Types of Madd Lāzim
• The Conclusion
The student will be assisted to memorise the Qur’an and will be expected to memorise the poem in order to receive certification. Students will be assessed periodically at the end of every term through both written and oral examinations.
Year 2: Certification in Al Jazariyyah
Students who have successfully completed Al Tuhfat Al Atfal are now ready for a more detailed and in depth study of Tajweed. This will be done in Year Two where the medium of study is the poem, Al Matn Al Jazariyyah.
Students will cover the following topics:
• The Introduction to the poem
• The Chapter on Makhārij
• The Chapter on Sifāt
• The Chapter defining Tajwīd
• The Chapter on some precautions
• The Chapter on the letter Rā`
• The Chapter on the letter Lām
• The Chapter on Isti˘lā`, Itbāq and various other rules
• The Chapter on Idghām
• The Chapter on the letter Dād and the letter Dhā`
• The Chapter on precautions concerning the Dād and the Dhā`
• The Chapter on the Mīm and Nūn Mushaddadah and the Mīm Sākinah
• The Chapter on the Nūn Sākinah and the Tanwīn
• The Chapter on Madd and Qasr
• The Chapter on Waqf and Ibtidā`
• The Chapter on the cut and joined compounds
• The Chapter on the Tā`s
• The Chapter on the temporary Hamzah
• The Chapter on stopping upon the last letter
• The Epilogue
Students will learn the rules of Tajweed through Al Haramain’s custom made resources. Students will also learn some rules of Arabic language since it is a required to understand the rules of Tajweed in depth.
Students will be assessed periodically at the end of every term through both written and oral examinations. The student will be assisted to memorise the Qur’an and will be expected to memorise the poem in order to receive certification and given the opportunity to teach in the following year.
Year 3: Certification in Teaching
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad, Salallāhu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, "The best of you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it [to others]" (Al Bukhāri)
After having successfully graduating from Year 2, students will be ready to begin teaching. Each graduate will be assigned an Al Haramain Senior Mentor, who will supervise and observe the first year of teaching.
Graduates will be given three assignments relating to their practical work to be completed by the end of each term. The student will also be checked on their memorisation of Al Jazariyyah and Al Tuhfatul Al Atfaal and the continuation of their reading and memorisation of the Qur’an.
Upon successful completion of this year, students will receive a professional Qur'an Teaching Certificate authorised by Al Haramain; recognised and supported by Imams from the Makkah and Madinah.
