Al Haramain Schools is a UK based body which operates with the aim of inspiring people to appreciate the beauty of the Qur’an through recitation & preservation and develop exemplary Islamic character, manners, etiquettes, ethos and inter-personal skills which the Qur’an & Sunnah teaches. This representative body is non-partisan, non-theological, and politically neutral, focused only on its stated key aim of extolling the beautiful Qur’an.

The beautification and eloquence of recitation at the heart of Al Haramain School’s programmes serve several purposes. We seek to spiritually develop individuals and communities while perfecting and reflecting upon the reading of the Qur’an. In addition, we seek to elevate and advance the Qur’an’s pristine understanding to our students and, indeed, the wider communities we serve. We are proud to have assistance in this endeavour through the support and endorsement of a number of notable, non-controversial world-renowned reciters of the Qur’an including the Imams of the Haram (Makkah and Madinah).

Thanks to improved technology, schools across the world now have access to the latest equipment and teaching methods in and out of their classes. All this technology serves a number of purposes. First, it helps connect with students through mediums they use every day. Facebook groups, for instance, are widely used by teachers to supplement learner and encourage collaboration between students. Second, integrating technology into educational environments keeps children engaged. In a world where children frequently learn to use tablets and other technology as part of their development at home, it seems counterproductive to remove this technology from their lives during their official education at school. Integrating technology ensures that children are learning in a way that is both familiar to them and which can challenge them, often more so than traditional learning methods. Finally, it’s worth noting that the idea of the passive learning model is all but defunct. Children are no longer willing to be taught in sterile, boring ways. If teachers want to invigorate and enthuse their students, technology must be in the room.

It is equally vital that technology is involved when Qur’anic and Islamic studies are being taught. Now, more than ever, innovation is required to ensure that future generations are as engrossed and energised by the teachings of the Qur’an as their ancestors. We can no longer hope to keep them interested by passive learning or textbook teaching alone.
